Kami WinninghamDirector of Operations Kami Winningham began her journey with Advanced Medical Productions and Figure 8 Films during the summer of 1997 when she served as an intern for the company. Her first task? Logging a burn surgery for The Operation series. "I knew if I could handle seeing that much blood without passing out, I could handle anything!" After graduating from the University of Alabama, she made the move to Chapel Hill and began her career in production. Over the next 5 years she would wear many hats - production assistant, dog walker, assistant editor, life coach, post production supervisor, mind reader - whatever needed to be done! "What I love about working at a small production company is that I was able to learn about every facet of production, especially the ones they don't teach you in school." Kami moved to Nashville in late 2004 where she worked for another small production company as a project manager, producer and writer. Her years in Nashville were mostly spent working on a video-based children's Sunday School curriculum for the United Methodist Publishing House. "The Live BIG project was just plain fun. We created positive shows that taught children about love, friendship and tolerance." After realizing that the Nashville uniform of cowboy boots and a cowboy hat was not a look she could pull off, Kami decided in 2010 to return to Chapel Hill and to her family at Figure 8 Films. She is now working in the Carrboro office as the Director of Operations. This position draws on her management experience and allows her to do what she does best - keep track of multiple ideas, projects and people. "My goal is to stay one step ahead of everyone to insure that the office runs smoothly." Kami and her husband, Darren, also just welcomed a beautiful new baby boy, Elijah Gray, to their family. And unlike his mommy, baby Eli can rock any look - even cowboy boots! |
