Kristin grew up in Asheboro, NC. Yes, there's a big zoo there. And, yes the prohibition of alcohol still exists. Her passion for documentary storytelling goes way back to impersonating Harriet the Spy. She thinks we should require all eight-year-olds to spend at least some time hiding in the bushes and taking field notes. In case you can't tell, Kristin didn't have any brothers or sisters. Besides taking field notes in the neighborhood, her idea of "play" was tape recording interviews with anyone who would answer her questions (for hours).

Like many young teenagers across this great country, she wanted to see the big city. After graduating from UNC's School of Journalism, she moved to San Fransisco where she sold a little piece of her soul to Apple. Afterall, they were begging her to help coordinate their TV commercial shoots. She claims she held an iPhone before Steve Jobs did. She is also attributed as the person who suggested the famous touch screen interface. In San Fransisco, Kristin enjoyed pho, sushi and sitting on the dock of the bay watching the tide roll in.

Three years ago, Kristin moved back to Chapel Hill area "by accident". Originally she had mapped out Chapel Hill as a pit stop on the way to New York. Right, Kristin. You know you love little towns. She'll tell you she stayed because she fell in love...with Figure 8 Films. We're finally getting her all trained up. Phew! We thought she'd never stop laughing really loud and smacking her knee when the camera was rolling.

Kai is the man of her life. Kai is her dog. Apparently he has an itching issue that the top doctors at UNC and Duke have been unable to figure out. Nevertheless, he is a fantastic dog who totally tolerates her (while hiding underneath the couch) when she hula hoop dances in the living room. Hoop dancing is near the top of Kristin's Top 10 how-to-entertain-yourself list.

At Figure 8 Films, Kristin coordinates shoots, averts disasters with her psychic powers, and researches weird stuff. She is happiest being out in the field where she can make friends with strangers, listen deeply, and rely on her quick animal instincts (hey at least she's relying on something). Each morning, she leads the crew in a personalized rendition of kumbaya. Then, she puts daisies in everyone's hair and prays for miracles.

Outside of hula hooping and roaming the streets of Carrboro with Kai, she is training to be a doula. In case you don't already know (don't worry, we didn't either), doula is the life bringer of the life force (ask her to explain, but be prepared for a very impassioned monologue). Very soon, she will be a certified doula.
